Ingredients:
- 4 slices of bread
- 4 slices of ham
- 150g Gruyere cheese, grated
- 4 eggs
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley optional
Instructions:
Turn on your oven and heat it up to 375F 190C
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-low heat in a saucepan
To make a roux, add the flour and stir it in constantly for about one minute
Slowly whisk in the milk, and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce gets thicker
Take it off the heat and add half of the grated Gruyere cheese
Salt, pepper, and Dijon mustard should be used to season
Each piece of bread should have a lot of cheese sauce spread on it
Put ham and the rest of the Gruyere cheese on top of two slices of bread
Use the last two slices of bread to close the sandwiches
Melt the rest of the butter in a pan over medium-low heat
Start cooking the sandwiches in the pan
Each side should take about two to three minutes to turn golden brown
Put the sandwiches on a baking sheet
Carefully put an egg on each one of the sandwiches
Put it in an oven that is already hot and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the egg whites are set but the yolks are still smooth
If you want, you can add chopped parsley as a garnish
Enjoy while hot
