Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup fruit jelly your choice
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
Mix the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt together in a bowl
Heat the milk and butter together in a saucepan until the butter melts
Take it off the heat and allow it to cool a little
To the dry ingredients, add the eggs, vanilla extract, and milk mixture
Stir to form a dough
Work the dough for approximately five minutes, or until it gets elastic and smooth
After adding oil to a bowl, cover it, and allow it to rise until it doubles in size, about 1 hour
After pounding the dough, roll it out to a thickness of about 1/2 inch
Cut out doughnut shapes with a round cutter
After putting them on a baking sheet, give them an additional half hour to rise
In a deep pan, heat the oil to 350F 175C
Fry for one to two minutes on each side, or until the doughnuts are golden brown
blot with paper towels
After the doughnuts are safe to handle, fill a piping bag with fruit jelly and press a tiny bit of jelly into each one using the tip
Sprinkle powdered sugar over the jelly-filled doughnuts
Enjoy your freshly made jelly doughnuts after serving
